This is our original mask (and a best seller too!), a blend of colloidal oatmeal mixed with bentonite clay which is very hydrating to the skin.
Ingredients: Colloidal Oatmeal, Bentonite Clay, Chamomile Tea Leaves, Chamomile Essential Oil, Chamomile Extract, Vitamin E |
BENEFITS OF EACH INGREDIENT:
Colloidal (Ground) Oatmeal - Oats have anti-inflammatory properties and are suitable for all skin types. They are clinically effective in healing dry and itchy skin. Oats ground into powder are known as colloidal oatmeal. This powder can be mixed with warm water to form a thick paste and applied over itchy skin to get immediate relief from intense itching. An oatmeal bath is also effective in healing a number of skin conditions including dry itchy skin. Oatmeal can be used in curing neurodermatitis, a skin disease characterized by itchy or inflamed skin. Bentonite Clay - Bentonite Clay is a unique clay due to its ability to produce an “electrical charge” when hydrated. Upon contact with fluid, its electrical components change, giving it the ability to absorb toxins. Bentonite is known for its ability to absorb and remove toxins, heavy metals, impurities, and chemicals. Bentonite is a swelling clay. When it becomes mixed with liquid it rapidly swells open like a highly porous sponge. From here the toxins are drawn into the sponge through electrical attraction and once there, they are bound. Chamomile Essential Oil and Extract - Camomile essential oils and extracts are anti-allergenic, and they help cure acne by removing toxins and cleaning sebaceous and eccrine glands through sweating. Chamomile Oil is also a natural skin soother that works well for treating sun or wind burn. Chamomile is useful applied to the skin as a pain, inflammation and anti-microbial treatment. Vitamin E - Pure vitamin E oil is extremely versatile. Vitamin E oil promotes healing and is an active ingredient in many products available for skin and nails. Vitamin E is a strong antioxidant that prevents premature aging. |
Directions for use:
Before we get started, please know that you should use plastic or wooden spoons only to mix the Bentonite clay. You’re never supposed to use metal utensils with your bentonite clay because the metals can leach from the utensil and be pulled into the clay. This fills the clay up with those positively charged metals and means your clay will practically be useless by the time you use it since it’s already full of the metals from the utensil you used. The same goes with when it’s being mined. You want fully active clay… not clay that is already half full of metals from the mining process.
This is not a very thick mask but it will harden when left to set on your skin. One application for the entire face would require one tablespoon of Nekkid Dry Mask. Choose either Fresh Milk (or Almond Milk for vegans) or water to make a paste. We prefer milk because of it's added benefits! Add a teaspoon of liquid at a time to your mixture (on a separate plate) until you have the right consistency for a mask. If it's too runny, it will drip. If it is too thick, it won't apply as easily. Use your fingers to apply on your face or a synthetic foundation brush which is less messy. Let sit for 15 to 20 minutes until the mask dries up.
To wash off, run your hands in lukewarm water and pat water on your face to soften the hardened mask. Massage gently in circular motions to get more nutrients into your skin. No need to rinse with soap, just pat dry and follow up with your moisturizer.
NOTE: Caution should be exercised as clays may stain fabric.
